6 Things parents should know before choosing a dance studio

If most dance studios seem to have qualified, friendly teachers, experience teaching children and a big show at the end of the year, aren't they all pretty much the same? Does it really matter which place you decide to enroll at? Yes. There are 6 main things that can make a huge difference in the quality of instruction your child receives, the amount of extra work and hassles the parents must deal with and the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of being involved with a dance program. Here are 6 things that every parent should consider before deciding on a dance studio for their child.

1: Smaller class size.

If the dance class has fewer students in it, each child will receive more personalized attention, learn more and have more fun. With younger students, it is easier for a teacher to maintain control over the class and make sure each student understands the concepts and instructions. Our smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are being missed. A smaller class size also allows our teacher to catch any problems before they turn into bad habits or improper techniques. Our Pre School and special needs program class size is limited to 6 students per class. All others - maximum of 10 students per class.

2: Our instructors are all accredited and the dance studio is safe.

Our teachers are fully accredited by dance programs, dance organizations or universities, as well as being CPR certified. All of our office staff is CPR certified as well.
One of the most important features of a dance studio is the type of flooring used. We use sprung floors, which have hundreds of compressed foam blocks under the surface that absorb the impact of dancing and help keep the teachers and students energized. It is also a great form of injury avoidance.
We are tucked safely in a residential neighborhood away from busy highways or large parking lots.

3: One price costume fees.

We have a one price costume fee for your convenience. This allows you to know at the time of registration the price of your child's costume.

4: Short, entertaining recitals.

The length of our dance recital is approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours long. As parents we look forward to seeing all of our endeavors come together at our year-end performance. What an immense feeling it is to see your child shine to their fullest ability on stage, in a short entertaining recital.

5: We offer immediate assistance and customer service.

In many studios the teacher or the studio owner conducts classes and does the administration. By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer as the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To have a good experience it is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like costumes or schedules, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. Our studio has someone on staff during all regular class times, so you can get immediate assistance.

6: What kind of life experience is your child receiving over all?

It is important to consider more than just what kinds of classes are offered and the prices.
Our studio embraces a whole child philosophy. We know that dance classes may be only a small part of an otherwise busy and often chaotic life. We strive to help you instill in your child good values, self-esteem and healthy, positive self-expression. We constantly renovate and improve our facility and provide our students and parents with the best experience possible.

We always try to be available to discuss any special needs or concerns, in short "we care.”
